Over the holiday weekend Jeremy and I decided to hike around the Wichita Mountains (just a 1.5 hour road trip away) with a few of our friends. These mountains are one of the oldest ranges on Earth – 500 million years. Unfortunately, they’re teeny-tiny. I’m not sure they even qualify as actual mountains. So I can safely assure you that this was in no way preparation for the Himalaya trek we are going to embark on later this year.

Just around the corner from the area we were hiking is a place called The Holy City. I had no idea this existed. It’s a small area that was built in 1926 for passion plays – it looks as if it was updated in the ’60s or ’70s and hasn’t been touched since. The chapel was beautiful but the whole vibe was a little bizarre.

All-in-all we had a nice little mini adventure. We were hoping to camp but decided to stay away from the heat and the memorial day crowds. Did you guys have a good holiday weekend?
